Ray took the opportunity at the age of 43 to concentrate on his love of watercolour painting. He began painting for the sheer pleasure of it and the challenges it presents. He has shown at the society’s exhibitions at Ilkley for several years, becoming a Member of the British Watercolour Society in 1998. For reference he uses his collection of drawings, sketches and colour notes and photographs. His love of texture and detail means that to produce his paintings is time-consuming but satisfying.
